On an Errand

Twitter is an odd tool, and I can't believe that I enjoy it as much as I do! Through Twitter, I've connected with a wildly helpful group of educators that has become so important to me in my professional life--people that I "know" only online, but that I've come to trust and rely on as my authentic personal learning network.

I follow a few other people on Twitter as well, some friends IRL (in real life), and a few that I think of as friends, even though we've never met. It's an odd thing, these virtual friends--most of my local friends/family think I'm just weird.

Here's a short audio clip about a virtual friend of mine in England--a lady that I have grown quite fond of. Her Twitter name is Granumentally (grandmother of Documentally, who does the typing for her when he visits). Read and listen to her story, and her grandson's here.

Anyway, below is a recent audio clip--a bittersweet observation by a devoted grandson. I think we can all learn from it. Thanks for sharing, @Documentally and @Granumentally !

Lovely Lorelei

Welcome to the family, little Lorelei!

Today, Lorelei was born, and we are all so excited she's finally here! She and her mom and dad are all doing well, but it was a long day. Sweet Abrey is with her Gran, Granddaddy and Jesse tonight, but they all got to meet Lorelei this afternoon too.

Abrey told me that L is very little and she has lots of curly brown hair.

"She's really pretty too. I didn't know she would be so pretty. It's like our family has 4 people in it now" she said. "We used to have 3 and now we have 4."
She will be a great big sister, I just know it. I can't wait to give her a big hug and to meet our lovely little Lorelei.
Welcome to the family, sweet girl! We're going to have big fun together!

Celebrate the Girl!

A little recap of the fun weekend we had last weekend and a celebration of the 17 short, short years that our Artist in Residence and her friends have been spicing things up around here!
